What is Split?
Split is a simple free tool that turns one big photo into printable pages you tape together into a wall poster. Upload, choose your paper size, download, and print — no fuss.
Is Split free?
Yes — 100% free. No account, no watermarks, no ads, and no hidden steps. Just open the site and start.
What image size do I need?
At least 1200×800 pixels. Bigger photos print sharper at large sizes. The app tells you if your image might look a bit soft when printed, so you can adjust before downloading.
What file formats can I download?
Multi-page PDF (best for printing), or ZIP with individual PNG or JPG pages. All exports are at 300 DPI.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens on your device in the browser — your photos never leave your computer or phone. If you reload the page, we can keep your work saved locally until you choose to start over. Nothing is sent to us.
What paper sizes are supported?
US Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and ISO A4, in portrait or landscape orientation.
What are print margins for?
Margins add a white border (5, 10, or 15 mm) inside each page so content stays clear of non-printable edges on home printers. Use crop marks to trim and align pages when assembling.
How is Split different from other tools?
Split is completely free with no ads and no extra hoops. Other tools often add ads, extra steps, or cluttered interfaces. We keep it simple: upload your photo, align it, download a PDF or ZIP, and print. Clean, modern, and hassle-free.
How do I print one image across multiple pages?
Upload your image to Split, pick paper size and how many sheets you need, align the grid, then download a multi-page PDF or ZIP. Print every page at 100% scale (no fit-to-page) and tape the sheets together into one large poster.
What paper size should I use for a large wall poster?
Letter or A4 work well for home printers. Tabloid or Legal give fewer, larger tiles if your printer supports them. Split shows live stats for final size and print quality before you download.
Can I make a poster from a phone photo?
Yes. Use a high-resolution photo (the bigger the better). Open Split in your mobile browser, upload the image, choose page count, and download the PDF to print later from any device.
Should I download PDF or ZIP?
PDF is easiest for printing — one file, open and print all pages. ZIP gives separate PNG or JPG files if you want to edit individual pages or send them to a print shop.
How do I assemble printed pages into one poster?
Print at 100% scale with no margins scaling. Trim overlap if needed, align using page numbers and optional crop marks, then tape or glue on the back. Many people use painter's tape for easy repositioning.
How many pages do I need for a big poster?
More pages mean a larger final poster with smaller tiles per sheet. Split shows estimated physical size as you change page count. Start with 9–16 pages for a medium wall poster on Letter or A4.
What is tiled printing?
Tiled printing splits one large image into tiles that match your paper size. Each tile prints on its own sheet; you assemble them into a single wall-sized poster — the same idea used by classic poster tools, but free and private in your browser.
Is there a free split tool with no ads?
Yes — Split is free, has no ads, no watermarks, and no account. Your images stay on your device. It is a modern alternative to older online poster tools.
Can I make classroom or event posters?
Yes. Teachers and organizers use Split for classroom displays, party banners, concert flyers, and sports team graphics. Upload your design, split into printable pages, and assemble on a wall or bulletin board.
Does Split work in Spanish?
Yes. Split is fully available in English and Spanish — switch language in the header. Guides and the app interface are localized for both languages.
